The personal data we collect
- Contact enquiries - when you use our contact form or email us: your name, email address, company, phone number (if given) and the content of your message.
- Newsletter - if you subscribe: your email address, name (if given) and whether you open or click our emails.
- Client work - if you become a client: contact and billing details, and any information needed to deliver our services.
- Website usage - only if you accept analytics cookies: pages visited, how you arrived at the site, approximate location (town or region), device and browser type. This is collected by Google Analytics.
- Technical data - like all websites, our web server and the services that deliver parts of this site receive your IP address and browser details in order to send you the page.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Mailchimp (Intuit Inc., USA) - our contact form and newsletter.
- Google (Google Analytics, and Google Fonts which provides the font used in our logo) - website statistics, only with your consent.
- TermsFeed - our cookie consent tool.
- Content delivery networks (Cloudflare cdnjs, jsDelivr and jQuery) - deliver standard website code such as Bootstrap, jQuery and Font Awesome icons. These receive your IP address in order to send the files.
- TechCrunch - images on our AI News page are loaded from TechCrunch's servers.
- Our web hosting provider - hosts this website and our email.
- Professional advisers such as our accountant, where needed.
If we use AI tools in delivering work for clients, we follow the approach described on our Sensitive Data and AI page and only use business-grade services with appropriate data protection terms.
International transfers
Some of our providers (including Mailchimp and Google) are based in, or may process data in, the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the protections required by UK data protection law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to 2 years after our last contact.
- Client records: 6 years after the end of the financial year in which our work ended, as required for tax purposes.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Google Analytics: up to 14 months, after which it is deleted automatically.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by websites you visit. We use:
- Strictly necessary cookies - to remember your cookie choices. These don't need consent.
- Analytics cookies - Google Analytics, to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are useful. These are only set if you click to accept them in our cookie banner.

Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
Children
This website is intended for businesses and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
